FRiday Night: WELCOME TO KANSAS!

All guests are welcome to join us at the Lake Shawnee Garden House, 3720 SE Yacht Ct., Topeka, KS 66609, from 8:30-10 pm on Friday, September 9 and at the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant, 417 SW 37th St. (37th and Kansas), Topeka, KS 66611, afterwards.  Please bring a drink and stop by the Garden House or catch up with us at Blind Tiger - we would love to see you as you roll into town!  If you have trouble finding the Garden House, feel free to call Ed Letourneau at (785) 221-8780.  If you are looking for a late night snack after the Blind Tiger, you might consider The Burger Stand, 1601 SW Lane St, Topeka, KS 66604, for a gourmet, any-way-you-can-imagine-it burger and large microbrewery selection on tap.

Saturday Afternoon: NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL VS. NEVADA

Kickoff following the Wedding ceremony at 2:30 p.m. CST (NBC Broadcast)

As some of you MAY know, there is a Notre Dame game on Saturday, September 10 at 2:30 pm CST.  We have reserved space at Pigskins Sports Bar at Brookwood Shopping Center, 2822 SW 29th St., Topeka, KS 66614, where all our ND-loving guests can watch the game together - with a big screen, sound, drinks, and our great local BBQ!  For the locals, Pigskins is the Sports Bar right next to and associated with Boss Hawgs Barbeque.  To arrive for the beginning of the reception at Abe & Jakes, 8 E 6th St, Lawrence, KS 66044, at 5 pm CST, you will want to leave Pigskins at 4:15 pm CST - which should allow for travel during halftime. We're hoping the game is decided by then. =)

GO IRISH, BEAT WOLF PACK!

For those looking for other forms of entertainment besides college football, you may consider driving to Lawrence and spending some time on Massachusetts Avenue, just southwest of Abe & Jakes.  If you are not checking into the Springhill Suites in Lawrence, you are still able to park in the Abe & Jake's lot - just avoid the parking places marked in green because they are for hotel guests only.  Otherwise, there is a free public parking lot one block west of Mass Ave between 7th and 8th streets, just south of the public library.  On Mass Ave, you can find a variety of nice places to grab a snack, beverage, or ice cream or to shop.  If you would like to try another local beer, you may want to check out the Free State Brewing Company restaurant and microbrewery, 636 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044.
